The Kalaignar Centenary Library that has come up at a cost of ₹218 crore, will be inaugurated on July 15, the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister, K. Kamaraj, said Public Works Department Minister, E.V. Velu on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. After inspecting the new building on New Natham Road, Mr. Velu said that it was former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, who declared that the the birth anniversary of Kamaraj would be celebrated as Education Development Day. Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin has agreed to inaugurate the Kalaignar Centenary Library on Education Development Day, Mr. Velu said. The new library will benefit the people of the southern districts of T.N., Minister E.V. Don't inquire about caste in the daily journals of the students: To private schools, Coimbatore School Education Department

The Coimbatore School Education Department plans to hold a meeting on July 8 (Saturday) with private school principals instructing them to avoid asking community and caste details of the students in their daily diaries, Chief Educational Officer L. Sumathi said. The move came after a recent petition by the Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam (DVK) members to the Collector claiming that several private schools ask the students for the caste, community, and religious details in the diary of the children. They stated that this practice must not be encouraged. Academic Committee of Matriculation Schools Society president P. Arokia Thadayus said that the student details are maintained at the school office, administration, and teacher levels for reference purposes only. “It is also recorded in attendance registers in nearly all private schools. The delay in commencing medical admission is likely to result in the curtailing of first year engineering classes by as much as two months, said officials here. The counselling for students seeking engineering seats should have begun on July 2. However, for the benefit of medical aspirants who also enrolled for engineering admissions, the process was postponed till the finalization of MBBS admission by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
