Sri Lankan Navy arrests eight Rameswaram fishermen for alleged violation of IMBL

The Sri Lankan Navy held 3 Indian poaching trawlers that continued to remain in island waters, with 17 Indian fishers aboard.  RAMANATHAPURAM: A total of three boats including one from Rameswaram were caught by the Sri Lankan Navy in the mid-night hours for alleged violation of the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and fishing in the island nation’s waters off Delft Island near Neduntheevu. About 17 fishermen including 8 from Rameswaram were arrested and three boats were seized by the SL Navy which are said to be taken to Kankesanturai for further action. About 500 boats from Rameswaram had ventured into the sea on Wednesday. More than 5,000 dead in Libya floods, but far higher toll feared

The death toll is expected to go up in the upcoming days. The flooding comes days after a drastic earthquake last week in Morocco, another North African country, which killed 2,800 people.  Mediterranean storm Daniel caused devastating floods in Libya that broke dams and swept away entire neighborhoods in multiple coastal towns.  Following the torrential rains and the collapse of two dams, more than 5,000 people are suspected to be dead in Libya, reported the government on Wednesday, as per the New York Times. On Monday night, Libya, a North African Country, faced one of the biggest floods in the history of Africa. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Goyal on September 1 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) following a long session of questioning at the central agency’s office here. The 74-year-old businessman was produced before the court at the end of his ED remand on Thursday. Goyal was sent to judicial custody by the court as no further remand was sought by the probe agency. The money laundering case stems from an FIR of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Jet Airways, Goyal, his wife Anita and some former company executives of the now-grounded private airline in connection with an alleged Rs 538-crore fraud case at the Canara Bank. ...
