Executive order aims to cut red tape and strengthen US lead in commercial space.

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to simplify federal regulations governing commercial rocket launches, a move expected to benefit private space companies such as Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

According to the White House, the order instructs the US Transportation Secretary to accelerate or eliminate certain environmental reviews required for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) launch licenses. The aim is to reduce bureaucratic delays and enable faster approvals for commercial space operations.

In a statement posted on X, the White House said: “MAKE SPACE GREAT AGAIN. @POTUS has signed an Executive Order to streamline regulations and foster a competitive commercial space industry, ensuring the United States maintains its leading role in the commercial use of space.”

Industry analysts believe the move could give US-based companies a competitive edge in the rapidly growing global space market, where speed to launch is increasingly critical. By easing regulatory burdens, the administration hopes to strengthen the US position as a leader in commercial space exploration and innovation
